Owner of Metricks, Web Analytics and Website Optimisation specialists based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
A Graphic Designer and Mac Operator in the 90's, I worked in small print and design firms, national publications and design studios in both the UK and Australia. Web Design was a natural progression and having survived two dotcom busts I relocated to Australia. I studied an Advanced Diploma in Business Systems whilst building sites for clients and improving development and programming skills in asp and php.
In 2004 I was responsible for metrics reports for a large financial firm which were very rudimentary, pulling data from webtrends and logfile analysers. I soon learned to loath hits! but this gave me a passion for improving measurement, whilst moving into more strategic roles.
From being the web analytics dude in a couple of government departments, it was perfectly natural next step to take over Search Engine Optimisation, PPC and Email marketing and measure the results.
I opened Metricks in 2010 to develop online strategy with distinct measurable goals for businesses to improve their services online.
I've used photoshop since it had no layers (yep it was hardcore!) back in the early 90's, seen illustrator and freehand battle it out while quarkxpress was missing in action, then Macromedia come along with its web products and disappear into Adobe
The first javascript tagging web analytics tool I used was Websidestory's HBX, and though Google Analytics came out a year or so earlier I was a late adopter as HBX was so superior in tracking downloads, cross domains, campaigns and the report builder plugin for Excel. I've since become a Google Analytics convert as the products has improved so much, and HBX ended up as part of Omniture's suite, now part of Adobe too!
Hitwise, Compete, Tynt, Clicktale, CrazyEgg, Kampyle, Buzznumbers, Vision6, Aweber, Campaign Monitor, Unbounce and an insane array of SEO and Web Analytics tools have been used to provide clients with the best recommendations and platforms for measuring and getting their message out there, along with all the Google tools
